The crowd at the vast and chilly Alexandra Palace for Alice in Chains had high expectations and anticipations and they were not disappointed. Vocalist William DuVall, who recorded the last two albums with AIC is charismatic and competent. Walking in Staley’s shoes is not an easy task, but DuVall was energetic and with full control of the stage .
Jerry Cantrell and co presented songs from the exceptional album Dirt with a mixture of the newer songs such as Hollow And Stone from the latest album The Devil put Dinosaurs Here . The night begun with the master sequence Them Bones , Damn in the River, Check my brain and Again .
Also on the set list, Man in the box , Down in a Hole , We die young and No Excuses. The middle set, they performed Rotten Apple, and despite never having Duvall compared to Layne , the vocal similarity in that particular song was so clear that you could see people crying around you.
The classic signature tunes Would? and Rooster and visuals elements on big screens in the background, keeping the audience hypnotised closed the London’s set.
