After two promising performances by special guests Walking Papers  with former drummer of Screaming Trees, Barrett Martin and bassist Duff McKagan and the eccentric on-stage presence of the Swedish band Ghost, the band that Dave Grohl played the magic wands on their cover of ABBA’s “I’m A Marionette?”

The crowd at the vast and chilly Alexandra Palace for Alice in Chains had  high expectations and anticipations and they were not disappointed. Vocalist William DuVall, who recorded the last two albums with AIC is charismatic and competent. Walking in Staley’s shoes is not an easy task, but DuVall  was energetic and with full control of the stage .

Also on the set list, Man in the box , Down in a Hole , We die young and No Excuses. The middle set, they performed Rotten Apple, and despite never having Duvall compared to Layne , the vocal similarity in that particular song was so clear that you could see people crying around you.
