by | Apr 3, 2023

Gut Feeling showcases lozeak’s knack for writing infectious, alt-pop anthems that are as diverse as her musical influences – everything from Hole, Radiohead, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry, Paramore, Sugababes and P!nk.  The lead single from the mixtape, Drag Me To Hell, was written with Sarah Hudson (Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, Katy Perry).

Speaking of the release, lozeak says “My new mixtape Gut Feeling is practically my diary from age 16-19.  Every single song on the tape represents a different GUT FEELING I’ve had growing up whilst overcoming life’s obstacles as a teenage girl. The concepts I’ve written about are all very true to me and my life! I want my mixtape to be the backing track to teenagers’ lives who relate to what I’m saying, just like it was for mine.”

Her music has won over famous fans, with Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes, Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and Frank Carter all championing her sound. The story of lozeak starts in 2003 in Norwich with two music-obsessed parents blasting drum and bass awaiting the birth of their second child in an attempt to imbue rhythm and a flare for music into her DNA. It worked.  A childhood spent exploring the sounds of Luther Vandross, Madonna and Amy Winehouse gave way to her teenage years when she transitioned to diverse artists like Avril Lavigne, Kehlani and Radiohead – inspiring her grungy, rock-pop edge of today.  With a huge online fanbase eagerly awaiting the release of Gut Feeling, she has well and truly earned her status as the UK’s next rising star.

Well, in typical belligerent style, Nine Inch Nails meet this challenge head on – treating us to a set by turns poetic and punishing, and despite the odd technical hiccup, really delivering that all important connection.
