Rising Mancunian star Lusaint has unveiled her latest single Summertime, a smoky, jazz-laced track brimming with emotion and understated power. Arriving in the wake of earlier 2025 releases Joking and Neon Lights, Summertime serves as the final preview before the release of her hotly anticipated new EP The Apothecary, due later this summer.
A gentle blend of sultry rhythm and soulful storytelling, Summertime feels tailor-made for golden evenings and wistful reflection. Lusaint’s signature velvety vocals cut through a minimalist arrangement as she explores the emotional paralysis of a love that lingers without resolution.
“It’s about the ache of wanting someone who won’t give you clarity,” Lusaint shares. “That quiet, stubborn hope we hold onto even when we know better. It’s a song that sits in the vulnerability of waiting — of wanting more from someone who keeps you just close enough.”
Raised in Stretford, Greater Manchester, Lusaint first captured attention through her smoky covers of jazz greats like Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald in local bars. Her breakout came in 2019 when her rendition of En Vogue’s Don’t Let Go became the most Shazam’d song in the UK in a single day, catapulting her into the national spotlight. A viral cover of Wicked Game followed, notching up more than 30 million YouTube views, leading to a record deal and the launch of her original material.
With over 80 million global streams, Lusaint (real name Lucy Hopkins) has since built a formidable following and won praise from BBC Radio 1, Notion, Wonderland, and more. Her 2023 debut EP Self Sabotage garnered 10 million+ streams, and led to coveted spots at Boardmasters, The Great Escape, and Neighbourhood Festival, as well as support slots for Raye, Jess Glynne, and Nia Archives.
2025 has already seen Lusaint share the stage with Michael Kiwanuka, Robert Plant, and JP Cooper, with even more performances lined up across the UK and Europe — including a support slot on Calum Scott’s UK & EU arena tour.
