California/Danish dream pop quartet Moon Panda have unveiled their much-anticipated third album Dumb Luck, alongside shimmering new single Space Elevator.

Recorded largely at vocalist/bassist Maddy Myers and guitarist Gustav Moltke’s home studio, Dumb Luck was shaped in close collaboration with bandmates George Godwin (keys/guitar, production) and Josh Cabitac (drums), before being completed with producer Adam Thein (Djo), who previously worked on 2023’s Sing Spaceship, Sing!. The result is a deeply sensuous, dream-drenched collection that balances blissful soundscapes with raw emotional honesty.
Speaking about the album’s title, Myers reflects on both the band’s creative bond and the personal transformation she has undergone in recent years: “I think the album name ‘Dumb Luck’ is about how lucky we’ve been to find each other and keep doing this together, even though we’re all from different parts of the world. And it’s also about becoming a mom — the best thing to ever happen to me, but also one of the hardest. Those early postpartum months were brutal, but they reshaped me, my creativity, and the way I see myself. You mourn the old version of yourself, but you also look forward to what’s ahead.”
This duality of joy and struggle runs throughout Dumb Luck. From the intimate and aching to the euphoric and expansive, the album captures both the fragility of identity and the strength that comes with growth. Tracks like Lost World, Butterknife and Superstore sit alongside the sweeping optimism of The Light and the hypnotic ascent of new single Space Elevator.
Described by Myers as the band’s first true “band album,” Dumb Luck underscores the closeness Moon Panda have built as collaborators and friends, binding together global influences and personal experiences into their richest and most cohesive work to date.
With Dumb Luck, Moon Panda affirm their place as one of dream pop’s most distinctive voices — weaving lush atmospheres with lyrical honesty and a sense of togetherness that feels both intimate and universal. The band will bring the album to the stage this autumn with a run of US headline shows, including dates in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin.
