Enigmatic Irish noise-rock quartet Naked Lungs have announced their explosive return with brand new single Glitter, marking their first release since 2023’s widely praised debut album Doomscroll.
Long celebrated for their command of dynamics — veering between coiled restraint and overwhelming force — Glitter sees the four-piece sharpening that contrast to devastating effect. The track surges forward on high-adrenaline guitars and rolling, groove-heavy drums before detonating into a caustic, crushing second act that leans hard into the band’s heavier instincts.
Speaking about the new single, vocalist Tom Brady explains: “Glitter is about denial — watching people bury their heads in the sand to hide from the chaos right in front of them. Clinging to fear and loud opinions because it lets them avoid the truth. Integrity got left behind, quick fixes took over, and real accountability became indifference. The world is on fire, and too many are asking, ‘Why should I care?’”
Even before releasing a single note, Naked Lungs had cultivated a formidable live reputation through word-of-mouth alone. Their 2022 self-titled EP sparked widespread attention and paved the way for a run of high-profile shows, including sold-out support slots with Therapy?, a headline UK tour and multiple packed-out Dublin dates.
Their debut album Doomscroll, produced by Daniel Fox, solidified their status as one of Ireland’s most ferocious emerging acts. A relentless touring schedule followed, including a 16-date UK headline run and festival appearances at 2000trees Festival, Supersonic Festival, Left of the Dial and The Great Escape, among others.
Since then, the band — comprised of Tom Brady (vocals), Andrew Connaughton (guitar), Ryan Mortell (bass) and Adam Nealon (drums) — have been writing relentlessly. Glitter marks the first in a series of new releases set to land throughout 2026, with more details promised soon.
