Natalie McCool Unveils Euphoric New Single ‘We’re The Ones’ Ahead Of New Album ‘Good For The Soul’

by | Jul 9, 2026

Liverpool singer-songwriter Natalie McCool has shared her uplifting new single We’re The Ones, the latest preview of her forthcoming album Good For The Soul, due for release on 9th September.

Following the introspective first taste of the record, Coming Of Age, the new track showcases another side of McCool’s evolving sound, pairing shimmering alternative pop with soaring melodies and a lyrical celebration of youth, possibility and living in the present before the responsibilities of adulthood inevitably take hold.

Built around airy, spacious verses that allow McCool’s distinctive vocals to shine before erupting into euphoric, beat-driven choruses, We’re The Ones perfectly captures the emotional contrasts that define Good For The Soul. It’s a song that balances nostalgia with optimism, recognising the fleeting nature of youth while embracing every moment of it.

Speaking about the track, McCool says: “We’re The Ones is a euphoric, expansive track that celebrates youthful optimism in the face of monotonous adulthood, holding onto the vivid imagination and sense of ‘wilderness’ that comes so easily in youth.”

True to much of the forthcoming album, McCool once again takes complete creative control, writing, producing, recording and mixing the track herself. Additional production and mixing comes from Andy Hall Hall, while Rhys Jiang provides the live drums, adding further energy to one of the record’s most immediate and uplifting moments.

Set for release this September, Good For The Soul represents the most ambitious chapter of McCool’s career to date. Blending bold alternative pop with darker electronic textures, cinematic soundscapes and deeply personal songwriting, the album explores the full emotional spectrum, from joy and hope to uncertainty and vulnerability.

While the title suggests optimism, McCool’s approach isn’t about avoiding life’s darker moments. Instead, the record embraces both celebration and catharsis, finding healing through honesty and connection. Across its songs, she explores identity, growing older, self-discovery and resilience, creating a collection that feels both intensely personal and universally relatable.

Originally from Widnes and now firmly established within Liverpool’s thriving music scene, McCool has steadily built a reputation as one of the UK’s most inventive independent artists. Her songwriting has attracted praise from some of music’s biggest names, including Paul McCartney, who mentored her during her studies at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, while an early songwriting competition victory judged by Chris Martin helped introduce her music to a wider audience.

Her career has continued to gather momentum through acclaimed releases including The Great Unknown and Memory Girl, alongside large-scale collaborative performances such as Welcome To Eurotopia, staged as part of Liverpool’s Eurovision celebrations, which brought together an impressive collective of musicians and performers in front of thousands of spectators.

To celebrate the arrival of Good For The Soul, McCool will perform two intimate album launch shows this October in Liverpool and London, giving fans an opportunity to hear the new material live shortly after its release.

With We’re The Ones, Natalie McCool continues to demonstrate why she remains one of the UK’s most compelling independent voices—combining fearless creativity, immaculate production and emotionally resonant songwriting into a sound that refuses to stand still.
