Olivia Dean Announces Sophomore Album ‘The Art of Loving’ And London Headline Show Next Week

by | Jun 3, 2025

Rising UK star Olivia Dean has announced the release of her eagerly awaited second album, The Art Of Loving, set to arrive on 26th September via Capitol Records. The new record promises to build on the rich, heartfelt songwriting that’s become Dean’s signature, while pushing her sound into bold and emotionally resonant new territory.

Described as a “tender, intentional deep dive” into the many facets of love — romantic, platonic, self-reflective and beyond — The Art Of Loving is poised to become Dean’s most introspective and mature work to date. If her latest single Nice To Each Other is anything to go by, listeners are in for an album that deftly balances lyrical nuance with musical warmth and sonic sophistication.

Speaking about the new single, Olivia shared: “It’s a song about the push and pull of exploring your independence in dating. It’s about enjoying someone in the present and allowing it to be both light and meaningful. I think this song and video represents a playfulness in me that I’m excited for people to see.” The track’s accompanying visual, directed in a single take by Jake Erland, offers a vibrant and spontaneous snapshot of Dean’s evolving artistry — one grounded in authenticity and emotional connection.

This announcement follows a landmark 12 months for the East London-born singer-songwriter. Her 2023 debut album Messy earned widespread acclaim and a Mercury Prize nomination, showcasing a talent both emotionally raw and technically refined. The album introduced fans to Olivia’s ability to weave the personal with the universal — a voice that felt both comfortingly familiar and refreshingly original. Her blend of classic soul, contemporary pop, and candid storytelling saw her championed as one of the most vital new voices in British music.

With The Art Of Loving, Olivia Dean appears ready to elevate her storytelling and sonic palette even further. Where Messy captured the confusion, heartbreak and vulnerability of youth, The Art Of Loving suggests a deeper, more grounded exploration of how we give, receive, and grow through love in all its forms.

As anticipation for the album builds, Dean will bring her music to some of the UK’s biggest stages this summer. She’s set to support Sam Fender on select dates of his stadium run, including a performance at the London Stadium on 6th June and Newcastle’s St James’ Park. A headline underplay show at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 11th June offers fans a rare chance to catch the artist in a more intimate setting before she heads across the Atlantic for her sold-out North American tour.

On 6th July, Dean will also join pop powerhouse Sabrina Carpenter at her sold-out BST Hyde Park headline show — placing Olivia in front of tens of thousands in one of London’s most iconic music settings. The performance promises to be a celebration of what’s shaping up to be a breakout era for the singer.

This summer’s Across The Atlantic tour will take Dean across the US and Canada, from New York’s Brooklyn Paramount to Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre, including two nights at Toronto’s prestigious Massey Hall. The tour will see her perform for new fans and showcase tracks from the forthcoming album — likely marking the first time many will hear songs from The Art Of Loving live.

Olivia Dean’s evolution continues with grace, honesty and musical sophistication. If The Art Of Loving lives up to its promise, it could very well solidify her place as one of the UK’s most essential songwriters.

Garbage Celebrate Three Decades Of Defiance At London’s Roundhouse

Thirty years into a career built on challenging convention, Garbage arrive at London’s Roundhouse looking anything but content to trade on nostalgia. Despite three decades of touring the capital, tonight marks the band’s first appearance at the iconic Camden venue, and from the moment Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, Butch Vig and touring bassist Nicole Fiorentino step onto the stage, they perform with the urgency of a band still determined to push forwards rather than look back.

Full Circle At O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire: Lifehouse Return To London In Intimate Acoustic Triumph

There are gigs that simply entertain, and then there are gigs that transport you. Lifehouse’s long-overdue return to London at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire is very much the latter. Eleven years since their last visit to the capital, Jason Wade and longtime guitarist Steve Stout strip everything back for the second of two London acoustic shows—following the previous evening’s performance at nearby Bush Hall—and in doing so remind a packed Shepherd’s Bush Empire exactly why these songs have endured for a quarter of a century.

It was yet another warm, sunny London day, the start of the country’s next heatwave, as thousands descended on Hyde Park for the final day of the second BST Hyde Park weekend of 2026. There was another event looming over the evening too: England’s World Cup Round of 16 clash with Mexico, kicking off at the decidedly unsociable hour of 1am. Football could wait though. Sunday belonged to disco legends, glam-pop icons and one of Britain’s most enduring bands as Duran Duran headlined a day that effortlessly balanced nostalgia with timeless musicianship.
