Long Island hardcore outfit Pain Of Truth are turning up the intensity with their latest single, Fed By Fear, the third track unveiled from their forthcoming sophomore album, Pain Of Truth, due 25th September via DAZE. The five-peice are: Michael Brian Smith (vocals), Nick Barker (drums), Nik Hansen (guitar), Ridge Rhine (guitar) and Zach Stachura (bass).
Following the previously released Unforgiven and Stranded, Fed By Fear arrives as another uncompromising statement from a band whose music is rooted in resistance, confrontation and the realities of oppression. Metallic guitar riffs, stomping breakdowns and a relentless rhythmic attack provide the backdrop for lyrics centred on witnessing oppression and confronting the divisions that continue to shape society.
The track further previews an album that sees Pain Of Truth pushing their hardcore sound into heavier territory without losing the raw, collective energy that sits at the heart of the genre.
Produced by Will Putney, whose production credits include work with Body Count, Incendiary and Counterparts, Pain Of Truth promises an intensified version of the band’s already formidable sound. Aggressive lead vocals collide with gang-style unified shouts, while the guitars shift between filthy grooves and electrifying riffs, underpinned by drums designed to drive the band’s most physical moments.
Across the 11-track album, Pain Of Truth channel their frustration into songs dealing with resistance, struggle and the fight for a better reality. Rather than offering easy answers, the record confronts injustice head-on, turning anger into a rallying cry.
The album opens with Obliteration before moving through tracks including Done For, Stranded and This Hatred. Unforgiven and Chinatown, NY lead into the newly released Fed By Fear, with the record concluding with Beyond The Damage, Filth In Your Head, Web Of Lies and Destroy It All.
With the band’s music built for the live environment, the release of Pain Of Truth also comes during a packed run of international appearances. The band will play Thrasher Death Match in California on 12th September before travelling to Japan for a show at Bloodaxe Festival on 19th September.
October then sees Pain Of Truth embark on an extensive North American headline run, bringing together a wide-ranging collection of hardcore heavyweights and emerging acts across different dates. Support includes Madball, 100 Demons, Killing Time, Contention, Fatal Realm, Mizery, Missing Link, Locked Shut and more.
The tour will take the band through cities including Montreal, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Portland, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Nashville, Atlanta, Philadelphia and New York, culminating in a hometown-adjacent appearance at Brooklyn Steel on 21st November.
For a band whose music thrives on collective energy, the live dates offer the ideal setting for the material on Pain Of Truth. The combination of metallic riffs, breakdown-heavy arrangements and gang vocals is designed to turn every show into a physical, communal experience, with Fed By Fear likely to become another focal point when the new songs hit the stage.
With Pain Of Truth now just weeks away, Fed By Fear provides another uncompromising glimpse of an album that looks set to reinforce the band’s position within the contemporary hardcore scene.
