Texas experimental heavy trio Portrayal Of Guilt have shared their ferocious new single Total Black, offering a final preview of their upcoming fourth studio album …Beginning Of The End, dropping this Friday.
Accompanied by a stark visualiser, Total Black captures the band at their most uncompromising. It’s a pummelling, genre-blurring track that fuses crushing heaviness with eerie atmospherics, hinting at the wider sonic palette explored across the new record. Known for pushing the boundaries of extreme music, the trio once again refuse to settle into a single lane, weaving together elements of black metal, industrial noise, alternative rock and dark ambient into a sound that feels both chaotic and meticulously constructed.
…Beginning Of The End represents a culmination of the band’s evolution over the past decade. Since emerging with their debut Let Pain Be Your Guide, Portrayal Of Guilt have built a reputation for constant reinvention — from the abrasive intensity of We Are Always Alone to the industrial and gothic textures explored on CHRISTFCKER* and its follow-up releases. This latest album sees them distil those influences into what promises to be one of their most expansive and fully realised statements to date.
Recorded and mixed by Phillip Odom, with mastering by Will Yip, the album spans eleven tracks that traverse themes of destruction, despair and existential dread, all delivered with the band’s trademark intensity. The result is a record that feels both confrontational and immersive, balancing raw aggression with experimental ambition.
To mark the release, the band will embark on a North American headline tour beginning next month, continuing their relentless live schedule and further cementing their reputation as one of heavy music’s most unpredictable and forward-thinking acts.
