RoZe Teases Greener Grass EP With Latest Tune Fantasy

by | May 31, 2024

22-year-old songstress RoZe has announced the release of her stunning debut EP Greener Grass, due for release on Friday 28th June 2024. The announcement also comes alongside the release of brand new single Fantas. Across five tracks that range from tender Fantasy, spunky Survival Mode and eccentric Voices In My Head the singer’s sleek and syrupy vocals convey the emotional resilience she needed to reach greener pastures. Amidst twinkling soundscapes, zigzagging basslines and snappy beats, the singer reclaims her past and reaffirms her plucky spirit. “We obviously all know the saying about greener grass – it means a better place,” she says.

Following from her debut single Hollow, new track Fantasy is a dreamy outpouring of RoZe’s emotional vulnerability, which interprets the toxicity of a relationship. Laden with floating melodies, lulling piano strokes and soft synth patterns, the sonics marry the illusion felt within the message of the song harmonically. Talking about the track, RoZe says: “This song is about questioning whether your relationship with someone is real or a dream, a fantasy. Although sometimes you do know that someone isn’t going to make you happy, you’re still holding onto that delusional idea of being with them. This song is based on the relationship of my Mom and Dad, from my Mom’s perspective.”

Music has always served a deeper purpose in 22-year-old singer-songwriter RoZe’s life. The Amsterdam-born artist began pursuing a career in music when she was just 14, sharing her moving covers online while making London her creative base and second home. Fast forward to 2024, and millions of listeners have since discovered RoZe’s enchanting renditions of hit songs through social media – now eager to hear music in her own words for the first time. “Most of my songs are about going from darkness to light,” she explains. “I just want people to see that light.”

Boasting the crisp, radio-ready vocals of pop artists like Lorde, Sigrid and Tate McRae, RoZe artfully balances candid moments of introspection with a youthful playfulness – a talent that comes easy to an artist who wrote music as the antidote to her tumultuous home life. She will often quite literally dream up her songs as she’s falling asleep, when her unconscious mind will reveal lyrics steeped in her truest feelings.

As RoZe prepares for the world to hear her true voice for the first time, it’s also a time for closure. “I’m very excited to close this chapter and help others,” she says. “If the listeners relate to a song or if my voice touches them, then I’ve reached my biggest goal. I just want to help people and heal the world.”
