Norwegian electronic duo Seeb have broken their year-long silence with the release of their brand new single Be Like That, a collaboration with soulful hitmaker JP Cooper. Out now, the track marks a fresh yet unmistakably Seeb return to the global dance landscape.
Famed for redefining the remix game with their era-defining take on Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza – a track that has now clocked over 2.2 billion Spotify streams – Seeb have since cemented their reputation with collaborations alongside the likes of Taylor Swift, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran. On Be Like That, they channel euphoric trance-laced house, balancing a surging club energy with Cooper’s characteristically heartfelt delivery.
The single’s strength lies in its contrasts: nostalgic, melancholy lyrics set against a kaleidoscopic, hands-in-the-air production. “It immediately resonated with me,” says Cooper. “It had that rare mix of melancholy and uplift, and I knew straight away it was something we had to do together.”
Seeb – Simen Eriksrud and Espen Berg – describe the track’s creation as one of their most unusual recording experiences. “We’ve wanted to work with JP ever since we heard Sing It With Me with Astrid S,” they explain. “When the idea for Be Like That came along, it finally clicked. We couldn’t meet in London, so JP recorded vocals in his garage studio, running back and forth to his house with files to jump on Zoom calls with us. It was chaotic, but one of the most fun sessions we’ve ever had – and it worked out perfectly.”
Co-written by Seeb, JP Cooper, Marcus Wiley, Gary Go (Galantis, Rag’n’Bone Man, Klingande), and solo artist KOATES, the song embodies themes of love, loss, and longing. “That deep sense of wonder if it could ever be like it was,” reflects Gary Go. “The melancholy in us already knows the answer, but that doesn’t stop the wonder of asking.”
For Seeb, Be Like That continues a legacy of global impact, from their own hits like Rich Love and Breathe to remixes that have reshaped the electronic music landscape. For JP Cooper, it dovetails with anticipation for his upcoming album Just A Few Folk, set for release on 3rd October.
Together, they’ve crafted a track that’s both a late-summer anthem and an autumnal reflection – a reminder of Seeb’s knack for finding the emotional core of the dancefloor.
