Squeeze Announce Birmingham Utilita Arena Date On 2026 Tried, Tested and Trixies Tour

by | Nov 25, 2025

British pop icons Squeeze have announced a major Birmingham show as part of their newly unveiled Tried, Tested and Trixies Tour, hitting arenas across the UK in late 2026. The band will perform at the Utilita Arena Birmingham on 28th November 2026, with tickets going on general sale Friday 28th November 2025 at 09:30 GMT. Joining them as very special guest across all dates is singer, songwriter and activist Billy Bragg.

The tour follows the announcement of their new studio album Trixies, dropping 6th March 2026, and marks one of the most ambitious runs of the band’s 50-year career. Spanning 16 dates, the tour kicks off at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on 12th November and concludes at the Brighton Centre on 5th December, including a huge hometown headline at London’s O2 Arena — just a few miles from where Squeeze first formed in 1973.

Founders Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook say they’re excited to return to the road after the overwhelming response to their 50th anniversary tour in 2024. “The reaction to the 50th anniversary tour in 2024 was amazing. We have never sounded better and it feels really special to be looking forward to playing the biggest headline shows of our career. And having Billy Bragg on the same bill, what’s not to love!” Tilbrook said.

Difford added: “It’s going to be amazing to show off songs from our album Trixies and, of course, all the hits and some surprises. I’m also excited that Billy Bragg will be joining us for all the shows.”

Alongside celebrating their legacy and new music, Squeeze will continue their long-running support for the anti-poverty charity Trussell, which provides emergency food and support for people facing financial hardship. Fans attending the shows are encouraged to bring food donations to venue collection points, with cash collections also taking place each night. Donations will be distributed across the 1,400 food bank centres in Trussell’s UK network.

The band will also donate £1 from every ticket sold to support grassroots music venues, artists and promoters. Music Venue Trust recently announced Glenn Tilbrook as a new patron, reflecting his ongoing commitment to protecting vital local spaces for emerging musicians. “The grassroots is where it all starts for so many musicians and where local communities can access affordable and exciting live music. We need to protect these venues and nurture the artists so that our great culture can thrive for generations to come,” he said.

The upcoming album Trixies has a unique history. Although it’s the band’s first album in eight years, it is also — remarkably — the first set of songs Difford and Tilbrook ever wrote together, conceived in the early 1970s as a collection of stories set in a fictional nightclub. Rediscovered on a long-lost cassette, the songs have now been realised with the musicianship the teenage writers didn’t yet possess, produced by bassist Owen Biddle. After more than 600 shows since reuniting in 2007, Squeeze now bring their earliest creative spark full circle.

Amy Macdonald Warms A Frozen Hammersmith Apollo With Heart, Humour & Huge Hits

“Are we having a nice time so far? Are we getting a bit warmer?” Amy Macdonald grins, peering out at a Hammersmith Apollo audience bundled into coats and scarves. It’s a question that becomes a running joke throughout the night — because despite the November chill and the decidedly frugal heating, Macdonald sets about warming the 5,000-capacity venue the only way she knows how: with humour, heart, and a powerhouse performance that leaves no seat unshaken.
