News of the new LP was teased last month when the group took out a cryptic ad in The Hackney Gazette, a tiny signature tongue and lips logo appearing in the ad for a glass repair company which also featured song titles from the group’s famous back catalouge.

Details of the release will be announced on Wednesday 6th September at an event in East London’s Hackney area, where Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood will be interviewed live by “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon. The event will be hosted by and streamed worldwide via YouTube.

The phrase “Hackney Diamonds” is an old East London slang term for broken glass, specifically referring to the shattered glass that results when windows are broken during a robbery.

“Hackney may be at the heart of Hackney Diamonds, but this is a truly global moment we want to share with fans around the world via YouTube,” the group said in a statement yesterday.

The event will stream live in the below video tomorrow:

The new record will feature a performance from Beatles legend Paul McCartney, the musician contributing bass to one of the new tracks, as well as the band’s touring drummer Steve Jordan and recordings made with the late Charlie Watts before his death.
