The Royston Club Reveal Tender New Single ‘Cariad’ Ahead Of Anticipated Second Album ‘Songs For The Spine’

by | Jul 11, 2025

The Royston Club are stepping firmly into the indie-rock spotlight with the upcoming release of their second album, Songs For The Spine, set for 8th August. Following the Top 20 success of their debut, the Wrexham quartet return with soaring momentum: vinyl pre-orders sold out in minutes, streaming numbers rising, and a loyal, lyric-chanting fanbase that packs out venues across the UK.

They have shared a very different kind of track in the form of new single Cariad—a stripped-back, emotionally raw offering that showcases the band’s depth and growing songwriting prowess. Produced by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, Rachel Chinouriri), the song mixes acoustic tenderness with a slow-burning, heartfelt crescendo destined to become a crossover indie anthem.

Cariad was written very soon after a breakup,” says guitarist and songwriter Ben Matthias. “It’s a song that, to me, encapsulates just how messy love, sex, memory, and self-worth can be.” The track follows recent singles The Patch Where Nothing Grows, Shivers, and Glued To The Bed, giving fans a powerful preview of what to expect from Songs For The Spine — an album that captures the emotional push-and-pull of youth, heartbreak, and growth.

From Radio X playlists to 6 Music support from Steve Lamacq, and a zoetrope Blood Records vinyl selling out in under an hour, Songs For The Spine is tracking to outperform the band’s debut, which charted at #16. Already known for their sweat-drenched, high-energy live shows, The Royston Club’s upcoming tour schedule is a blistering run through intimate release events, festival main stages, and an extensive UK and European headline tour this autumn.

Britainicana Is Louder That Americana: Westside Cowboy Stampede Through Portsmouth

Midweek Metal Mass: Lacuna Coil Blaze Through Leeds Stylus

Italian goth heavyweights Lacuna Coil turn Tuesday into a blackout ritual at Leeds Stylus, backed by a fired-up opening assault from Florida bruisers Nonpoint.

Nonpoint hit the stage like they’ve been itching for it all day. Elias Soriano stalks the mic with clipped precision, spitting hooks and commands in equal measure. Robb Rivera goes straight for the gut behind the kit, while Adam Woloszyn grinds out bass lines with industrial weight. Guitarist’s Jaysin Zeilstra and Rasheed Thomas add bite and distortion, feeding the noise without ever tipping it into clutter. The band sound more drilled-in than on their last UK run — tighter, sharper, still proudly abrasive.
