The Temper Trap Plot Intimate Return With UK, US & Canada Dates

Australian indie-rock trailblazers The Temper Trap have announced their long-awaited return to the stage with a run of four headline shows across London, Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles later this year. The tour will mark the band’s first live appearances since re-emerging with new music in 2025, kicking-off with in a UK homecoming at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on 2nd November.

The newly announced shows promise to be intimate yet electrifying affairs, giving fans in select cities the first taste of the group’s new chapter. Alongside the London date, the band will perform in Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles, making each stop a rare and coveted opportunity to see them up close after years away from the live circuit.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the release of Lucky Dimes, their first new single in nine years, which dropped this summer to both critical and fan acclaim. Its shimmering guitars, soaring vocals, and cinematic build reminded listeners exactly why The Temper Trap became one of the defining indie bands of the late 2000s.

Formed in Melbourne in 2005, the quartet — Dougy Mandagi (vocals, guitar), Jonathon Aherne (bass), Joseph Greer (keyboards, guitar), and Toby Dundas (drums) — first broke through with their 2009 debut Conditions, a record that not only went multi-platinum but also gave the world the anthemic Sweet Disposition. The track became a cultural touchstone, its euphoric swell soundtracking everything from festival sunsets to Hollywood films.

While subsequent albums The Temper Trap (2012) and Thick As Thieves (2016) cemented their reputation for lush, atmospheric indie-rock, the band took a step back from releasing new material in recent years. The arrival of Lucky Dimes — a confident, richly layered return — has reignited anticipation for what’s next, with fans speculating whether a full album could be on the horizon.

The upcoming shows are expected to feature a mix of beloved classics and freshly minted tracks, with the O2 Forum’s 2,300-capacity setting perfectly suited to the band’s balance of intimacy and grandiosity. For UK fans, the 2nd November date feels like a fitting reunion — London was an early champion of the band, who relocated there in the late 2000s and built a loyal following through relentless touring and festival appearances. In North America, the stops in New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto will rekindle connections forged during the band’s early global breakout.
