Tors Tease Forthcoming EP With New Tune Tell You

by | Nov 21, 2023

Gifted with a talent for emotionally-charged, melodically rich songwriting, the UK’s arena-ready band Tors today build towards a big year in 2024 by sharing their brand new single Tell You. It comes ahead of next year’s major 27-date arena tour of mainland Europe as main support to James Blunt, and previews a new EP which was recorded in Woodstock with Simone Felice (The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Vance Joy) and will be released in the spring.

Tell You sets out in a style close to the band’s renowned a cappella performances, their seemingly telepathic shared vocals intertwining to touching effect. But each verse and chorus brings new sonic elements into the mix – a flourish of piano, drums which steadily upscale their power – until the song reaches a transformative peak (and a heartbroken low) with its stunning middle-eight. It’s a musician’s way of expressing the emotions that remain unspoken, as shown by the couplet, “How am I supposed to leave this? Write a song and hope you’ll hear it?”

The band commented: “Have you ever loved someone who never knew how you really felt? How different would life be if you’d had the chance to tell them? These are the questions ‘Tell You’ grasps at, trying to fill the painful space between open-ended memories and closure. Sometimes the hardest decisions to live with are the ones we didn’t make.”

Tors wrote Tell You with producer Simone Felice and it was recorded during sessions at Applehead Recording Studios. Listen to the new tune below.

Fans have come to expect Tors to tease upcoming songs by performing their tight three-way vocal harmonies in a variety of beautiful locations – it’s an approach that has generated over 25 million views to date. This time they performed in Norwich Cathedral, with Jack Bowden playing the venue’s piano as brothers Matt and Theo Weedon took their shared vocals to celestial heights.

The tour with James Blunt will see Tors closing in on their mission to craft “intimate, personal songs written to be played in stadiums”. They’re no strangers to big stages, having played other big gigs with artists including Sam RyderFreya Ridings and Tom Walker, as well as selling out their recent UK headline tour and have also just announced they will support Cian Ducrot in London at Eventim Apollo on 21st November.

Tors’ previous single Miracle continued the trio’s ascent, picking up major airplay including Jack Saunders and Jess Iszatt at Radio 1BBC Introducing’s Tune of the Week, and Radio 2’s New To 2, plus their first major North American moment with track’s world debut play on SXM/Alt Nation. They always continued to progress across Europe, particularly in Germany, where Miracle hit the airplay chart.

Tors have music in their blood. Matt and Theo’s grandfather is Burt Weedon OBE, whose Play In A Day books inspired numerous iconic musicians from the ‘60s and ‘70s to play guitar, while Jack’s mother and sister are both music teachers. They’ve also applied their talents as co-writers with a range of artists, resulting in over 500 million streams for their collaborations with Declan J Donovan, Dean Lewis, Nick Wilson, The Wandering Hearts and many more.
