Willie J Healey has unveiled his uplifting new single S’all Good, offering another glimpse into his forthcoming EP 143, which arrives on 4th September via. The release also precedes a run of intimate UK headline shows this October, where fans will get the chance to hear the new material in a live setting.

A songwriter celebrated for his warm melodies, offbeat charm and effortless blend of indie rock, soul and vintage pop influences, Healey continues to refine his distinctive sound on 143. The EP brings together a collection of recordings created both at home on a four-track recorder and during sessions in New York with producer Loren Humphrey, the collaborator behind Healey’s acclaimed 2023 album Bunny. The result is a release that feels deliberately unpolished in the best possible way, embracing spontaneity and intimacy while allowing Healey’s sharp observations and melodic instincts to shine through.
Speaking about S’all Good, Healey explains that the song emerged during a difficult period, eventually becoming a meditation on acceptance and resilience: “S’all Good came from me messing around with guitar tunings and pitching stuff down on my 4-track after a sad few weeks,” he says. “It was kinda my ‘accept all outcomes even the sad ones’ type lesson. There’s some beauty in that. I took it to Loren in NYC and we got the basic tracking done, then I finished it off at my house in Bristol.”
The accompanying video mirrors the understated warmth of the song. Healey reveals it was inspired by an old Dutch record recommended by his language teacher, whose simple cover image of a singer surrounded by balloons sparked the video’s minimalist concept.
Beyond the visual inspiration, Healey says the song reflects the emotional state of someone waiting for change that never quite arrives: “The song feels like somebody who’s waiting around for something to change or someone to come along. There’s a feeling of frustration to that. It’s quite sad because you feel like they’re waiting for something like a party and it’s just not coming, and they’re being optimistic but they’re on their own.”
The upcoming EP takes its title from the pager-era numerical code 143, meaning “I love you”. Healey says discovering the phrase inspired both the title and the direct approach that runs throughout the collection.
“I thought that’s a nice way of not being too soppy,” he explains. “The songs and recordings really don’t have many bells and whistles—we wanted to get the message across as directly as possible.”
That stripped-back philosophy defines 143, with Healey embracing the freedom of combining home demos alongside studio recordings without feeling constrained by traditional album expectations.
Since emerging as one of the UK’s most distinctive alternative songwriters, Healey has built a reputation for crafting effortlessly melodic records that blend classic songwriting with playful experimentation. His ability to balance romance, humour and everyday observations has earned him a loyal audience, while his live performances continue to showcase the warmth and personality that underpin his recordings.
Following the release of 143, Healey will head out on a series of intimate UK performances this autumn, including headline shows and festival appearances.
