Commenting on his return to the UK and Europe, Esten shared: “Some of my earliest musical performances were way back in 1991 playing Buddy Holly in the hit West End musical BUDDY. That’s when I began my love affair with UK audiences who – quite literally – danced in the aisles. Four years ago, I was pretty heartbroken when the first COVID lockdowns meant that my debut C2C O2 Arena headline performance was to be cancelled, and ever since that day, I have been dreaming of and praying for a return to the UK. That dream first came true in October when I was blessed to be a part of the amazing Nashville Reunion Tour. Then, as that was successfully wrapping up, I received the confirmed schedule for my own return solo tour. And I damn near cried. I am chuffed, over the moon, and thrilled to bits to be returning to play my music in the country that for two magical years, I got my start in and called my home.”

The tour will follow the 26th January release of his highly anticipated independent debut album, Love Ain’t Pretty. A diverse and richly textured full-length project more than ten years in the making, the album began taking shape when Esten first arrived in Music City to play Deacon Claybourne on ABC/CMT’s Nashville, and now showcases a singer-songwriter with a masterful grasp of the full human condition.

Esten explores life, love, and the passing of time through the lens of a travelled and tested everyman, who has never lost his innate sense of wonder, or his wide-open soul over the course of all fourteen songs. Working in tandem with hitmakers like Jon Nite, Eric Paslay, Gary Burr, Leslie Satcher, and more, Esten co-wrote all tracks on the forthcoming album. Vividly detailed and filled with the emotional daring of a celebrated storyteller – both onscreen and onstage – Charles dives into wide-ranging themes of earth-shattering romance, big-picture reflection, and more.

Love Ain’t Pretty, produced by Marshall Altman (Frankie Ballard, Marc Broussard, Matt Nathanson) to sculpt a calm, controlled, and beautifully contoured sound, blending the forward momentum of Country Rock with Rootsy small-town charm, and a warm, soulful vocal, is a culmination of a lifetime of growth, and like its title suggests, it hasn’t always been pretty, but it has been a beautiful ride. Five of the fourteen brand-new tracks, Somewhere In The Sunshine, One Good Move, A Little Right Now, In A Bar Somewhere, and Down The Road (feat. Eric Paslay) are all available to download/stream now.

Bastille @ The O2 (Louise Phillips)

Good Grief, Bastille Show No Bad Blood At The O2 Arena

Tonight was a night of reflection. Of celebration. Fifteen years in, Bastille sound as good, and appeal to more people than ever. The fourth time the London band have played the biggest arena in the capital and they feel at home on this stage this size, with their visuals, their anthems and their devout relationship with their fans, they belong here.

Amy Macdonald Warms A Frozen Hammersmith Apollo With Heart, Humour & Huge Hits

“Are we having a nice time so far? Are we getting a bit warmer?” Amy Macdonald grins, peering out at a Hammersmith Apollo audience bundled into coats and scarves. It’s a question that becomes a running joke throughout the night — because despite the November chill and the decidedly frugal heating, Macdonald sets about warming the 5,000-capacity venue the only way she knows how: with humour, heart, and a powerhouse performance that leaves no seat unshaken.

Never Mind A Wet Night In Stoke, Bad Nerves Made The Best Of A Cold Tuesday Night At The O2 Institute Birmingham

Bad Nerves rolled into theBad Nerves tonight armed with a setlist built for chaos, and although the room was a little quieter than expected, the people who were there lit the place up. A smaller Tuesday night crowd didn’t dull the spark – instead it made the gig feel like a secret show shared only between the band and the diehards. And the band fed off it.
