Country-pop superstars Dan + Shay have unveiled details of their highly anticipated sixth studio album Young, set for release on 21st August. Alongside the announcement, the GRAMMY®-winning duo have shared the album’s heartfelt title track, offering fans an emotional first glimpse into what promises to be their most intimate record to date. Listen here.
Comprised of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, the Nashville hitmakers have spent more than a decade building a reputation for arena-sized hooks, polished harmonies and emotionally driven songwriting. With Young, however, the pair appear to be turning inward, reflecting on family, faith, ambition and the realities of life during one of the busiest and most transformative periods of their career.
Speaking about the record, the duo described it as their “most personal album yet,” explaining that every song is rooted in real experiences and moments from their lives. That honesty is already evident in the newly released title track, a warm and nostalgic anthem that balances reflection with optimism while capturing the fleeting nature of youth and time.
The album also includes current single Say So, which has quickly become one of the duo’s most emotionally resonant releases. Tackling the difficult subject of suicide prevention, the song has sparked widespread conversation among fans thanks to its compassionate message and cinematic accompanying video, directed by Smyers himself. Rather than relying solely on sentimentality, the track reinforces Dan + Shay’s ability to combine mainstream country-pop appeal with genuine emotional weight.
Young arrives following the success of 2023’s Bigger Houses, which further cemented the duo’s place among modern country music’s elite. Across their career, Dan + Shay have amassed more than 14 billion global streams, countless platinum certifications and an enviable run of chart-topping singles including Tequila, Speechless, and the Justin Bieber collaboration 10,000 Hours.
Their crossover appeal has also seen them move beyond the traditional country world, including becoming the first-ever coaching duo on The Voice in 2024. Yet despite their global success, Young appears set to focus less on accolades and more on authenticity.
Musically, fans can expect the duo’s trademark blend of soaring melodies and radio-ready production, with Smyers once again stepping behind the desk as co-producer alongside longtime collaborator Scott Hendricks. The result looks poised to deliver another polished collection while leaning further into the reflective storytelling that has become increasingly central to their songwriting.
With Young, Dan + Shay seem determined not only to celebrate how far they’ve come, but also to capture the uncertainty, gratitude and hope that come with growing older while still chasing the same dreams that started it all.
