Legendary Britpop band Echobelly have announced a UK tour to mark a major milestone: the 30th anniversary of their seminal second album, ON. The tour, scheduled for October and November 2025, will see the band perform the album in full across 14 dates, alongside a set of their best-loved hits. Originally released in 1995 at the height of the Britpop movement, ON propelled Echobelly to mainstream recognition, debuting at No. 4 in the UK Albums Chart and earning the band critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase. Now, three decades on, the band are giving fans a rare opportunity to hear the album live in its entirety — a celebration of a key record from the golden age of 90s British music.
Reflecting on the upcoming anniversary, lead vocalist Sonya Madan, one of the era’s most iconic and singular voices, shared: “We’re really excited about the chance to play ON in its entirety. A celebration of its 30 years of existence! It’s a special journey for us and a chance to celebrate it with all who come to see us on this tour.”
Guitarist and co-founder Glenn Johansson added: “It’ll be a personal re-discovery of a very special time in our musical career. Everything was in front of us and we were thrilled to experience the excitement and be part of that era. ON is considered one of the top seminal Britpop albums and we’re really excited to bring it back out to audiences.” The tour kicks off at Manchester’s New Century Hall on 2nd October, making stops in cities including Leeds, London, Glasgow, and Newcastle before wrapping up in Nottingham on 8th November.
When Echobelly released ON in 1995, they were already rising stars. Following the success of their 1994 debut Everyone’s Got One, which reached No. 8 in the charts and featured the alt-radio staple “Insomniac,” the band doubled down on their unique blend of razor-sharp pop hooks and incisive lyrics. ON cemented their place in Britpop’s upper ranks with tracks like Great Things, where Madan boldly declares, “I want to do great things / I don’t want to compromise” — a statement of ambition and self-belief that resonated with a generation. The album balanced sonic optimism with lyrical complexity, touching on themes of self-discovery, politics, and gender, all delivered through the band’s melodic and muscular songwriting. The record also featured the hauntingly beautiful Dark Therapy, check out the video below:
It’s no surprise that ON is still widely considered one of Britpop’s defining albums, with many of its tracks still in rotation on UK radio and fondly remembered by fans who lived through the movement. The anniversary tour isn’t the only thing the band are celebrating. Echobelly have also revealed plans for a brand-new studio album, their eighth to date, currently being recorded at London’s iconic RAK Studios with Danton Supple at the helm — a producer whose CV includes Coldplay’s X&Y, as well as work with legends like Morrissey, Dave Gahan, and Patti Smith.
With nearly three decades of history, Echobelly remain one of the few bands from their era to still command the respect of both their peers and their ever-growing fanbase. Their return to the stage in 2025 promises to be more than a nostalgia trip — it’s a celebration of enduring artistry, resilience, and a creative voice that still feels vital in today’s musical landscape.
