Blending soulful vocals, heartfelt storytelling and polished pop production, the track showcases Grey’s ability to transform deeply personal emotions into songs that feel universally relatable. Built around a warm piano melody and swelling full-band arrangement, Unequivocal captures the emotional complexity of relationships, focusing not on heartbreak itself but on the strength required to move through difficult moments together.

At the centre of the song is Grey’s unmistakable voice — rich, intimate and filled with sincerity — delivering lyrics that explore certainty, reconnection and emotional resilience. The unusual title came naturally during the writing process, perfectly encapsulating the feeling of absolute conviction in knowing someone will eventually return to your life.

Grey has explained that the song was also inspired by his desire to reframe goodbyes in a more hopeful light rather than viewing them purely through sadness. That emotional duality gives Unequivocal its depth, balancing vulnerability with optimism in a way that feels deeply human.

The track reunites Grey with longtime collaborator Anders Hojer, with whom he previously co-wrote James Arthur’s massive hit Falling Like The Stars. Their chemistry is evident throughout the single, which combines radio-ready polish with genuine emotional weight.

In recent years, Jamie Grey has quietly built serious momentum. With more than 75 million streams to his name, national radio support and collaborations with established artists, he has steadily evolved from emerging talent into one of the UK’s most promising singer-songwriters.

His story adds another layer to his growing appeal. Raised in Redcar, Grey initially pursued a career in finance after moving to London, believing music was an unrealistic ambition. It was only after repeatedly watching a street busker perform near his office that he began questioning whether he was following the right path. That turning point eventually led him back towards music and onto The Voice UK, where an early setback only strengthened his resolve. Returning a year later with renewed confidence and sharper artistry, Grey earned support from both Tom Jones and Olly Murs before reaching the live finals.

Since then, his career has steadily gathered pace, including sold-out headline shows and performances alongside artists including Rag’n’Bone Man, Scouting For Girls and Jools Holland.

Now, with Unequivocal, Jamie Grey sounds like an artist entering a defining new chapter. The single highlights not only his songwriting maturity but also his ability to connect with listeners through honesty rather than spectacle — a quality that continues to set him apart in an increasingly crowded pop landscape.

Later this year, Grey will bring that intimate songwriting style directly to fans with his upcoming Songs I Wrote tour, which will see him performing stripped-back acoustic shows across the UK and Europe.
