Jesse Roper Turns Up The Heat With Fiery New EP ‘Daisy Wake Up’

by | May 16, 2026

Canadian singer-songwriter Jesse Roper is continuing his steady rise on both sides of the Atlantic with the release of his brand-new EP Daisy Wake Up, a six-track collection that finds the acclaimed guitarist and storyteller leaning fully into his love of gritty blues-rock and high-energy Americana.

Already boasting more than 50 million streams and growing UK support, Roper’s latest release captures an artist embracing instinct over perfection. Packed with swagger, soul and raw guitar-driven energy, Daisy Wake Up feels purpose-built for loud stages, late-night bars and festival crowds.

At the centre of the EP is the explosive title track, a rough-edged blues rocker bursting with urgency and attitude. Driven by rattling riffs and restless energy, the song tells the story of a man sensing danger in the dead of night and scrambling to escape before it’s too late. True to the track’s unpolished spirit, the song emerged from an unlikely source of inspiration — a neighbour’s child’s Fisher-Price guitar that Roper tuned into open F after discovering it wouldn’t hold standard tuning.

The unusual instrument ended up giving the song its distinctive jangling character, evoking the loose, haunted sound of vintage blues recordings while injecting the track with a chaotic charm that perfectly matches its frantic lyrical tension.

Across the EP, Roper effortlessly moves between blues, rock ‘n’ roll and stripped-back emotional storytelling. Recent singles Green Eyed Lady, Sweet Little Caroline and I Love You Man sit comfortably alongside new material that broadens the record’s emotional scope.

Lady Luck arrives as a swaggering rock anthem fuelled by vintage showmanship and reckless optimism, while I Hope It Finds You strips everything back to expose a deeply personal side of Roper’s songwriting. Built around sparse guitar, understated piano and vulnerable vocals, the track explores heartbreak, acceptance and emotional recovery with striking honesty.

Despite the variety in mood and style, the EP remains tied together by Roper’s unmistakable voice and fearless approach to guitar music. There’s a looseness and authenticity running throughout Daisy Wake Up that makes it feel refreshingly human — less polished studio exercise and more genuine snapshot of an artist following wherever the songs naturally lead.

All six tracks were written solely by Roper and produced by Juno Award-nominated producer Gus van Go, whose previous work spans indie and alternative heavyweights while bringing an added sense of punch and clarity to the recordings.

With Daisy Wake Up, Jesse Roper continues carving out a space that blends classic blues-rock traditions with modern indie energy and deeply personal storytelling. It’s a release that feels simultaneously timeless and immediate — and one that should further cement his growing reputation among UK audiences hungry for authentic, guitar-led music.
