Jessie Murph Unveils New Single ‘Heroin’ And Details Sophomore Album ‘Sex Hysteria’

by | Jul 1, 2025

Breakout star Jessie Murph continues her meteoric rise with the release of Heroin, a vulnerable and emotionally charged ballad taken from her upcoming sophomore album, Sex Hysteria, out 18th July via Columbia Records. Swapping the fierce bravado of earlier hits for a more stripped-down sound, Heroin showcases a different side of the 20-year-old singer-songwriter. Set against a haunting piano and string arrangement, the track explores a dangerously addictive love, with Murph’s evocative vocal delivery capturing the raw ache of emotional dependence. It’s a bold sonic pivot—and one that signals a deeper, more introspective phase for an artist unafraid to bare her soul.

The new single arrives alongside the full tracklisting for Sex Hysteria, a 15-track body of work that promises to be Murph’s most personal and thematically cohesive project to date. Alongside Heroin, the album will feature recent singles Blue Strips—currently riding high at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100—and the sultry Touch Me Like A Gangster, first debuted at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Show earlier this month.

Guest appearances from Gucci Mane on Donuts and Lil Baby on Best Behavior round out a collection that delves into Murph’s lived experiences with searing honesty. Themes of sexuality, generational trauma, and self-reclamation thread through the record, which Murph describes as both “a provocation and a reclamation.”

A far cry from the southern grit of her 2024 debut, That Ain’t No Man, It’s The Devil, this new era leans into bold femme aesthetics, with a striking beehive hairdo on the album cover—a nod to 1960s femme fatales that contrasts sharply with the modern vulnerability found within the music.

Speaking about Sex Hysteria, Murph describes it as a space to unpack “buried feelings, family wounds, and the shame and stigma that silence women.” From reclaiming her body and voice to reckoning with emotional baggage, the album is a fearless assertion of identity from one of music’s most exciting new voices.

Alongside the new music, Murph has announced her Worldwide Hysteria Tour, her biggest international run to date. Following a string of acclaimed festival appearances at Coachella, Governor’s Ball, and Boston Calling, the tour kicks off o 27th July in Phoenix, AZ, before heading across the U.S., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand—wrapping on 22nd November in Auckland.

UK and Ireland fans can catch Jessie Murph at the following dates this October:

OCTOBER
19th – Birmingham, UK – O2 Institute
21st – Glasgow, UK – Barrowland Ballroom
22nd – Manchester, UK – Manchester Academy
24th – London, UK – The Roundhouse

The Alabama native’s 2024 debut marked a breakout year, with platinum-certified single Wild Ones ft. Jelly Roll earning her two MTV VMA nominations, and genre-bending collaborations with Bailey Zimmerman and Koe Wetzel climbing both pop and country charts.

Now, with Sex Hysteria, Murph is ready to go even further. It’s not just a sophomore album—it’s a statement of intent. And as 2025 continues to unfold, Jessie Murph looks more than ready to take her place at the forefront of pop’s most fearless voices.
