Militarie Gun Share New Single ‘Throw Me Away’ And Announce 2026 UK / EU Headline Tour

by | Sep 10, 2025

Los Angeles’ shape-shifting punk outfit Militarie Gun have shared their latest single Throw Me Away, a soaring anthem of self-doubt and defiance, alongside details of their upcoming album God Save The Gun, set for release on 17th October. The track arrives with a raw, performance-driven video directed by frontman Ian Shelton, emphasising the intensity and immediacy that have become hallmarks of the band’s rise. Throw Me Away follows on from the recent single B A D I D E A and pushes deeper into the themes at the heart of God Save The Gun — a record Shelton has described as an “absurdist guide to the intersection of self-destruction and self-belief.”

Speaking about the meaning behind the new single, Shelton reflects: “Throw Me Away is about the feeling of only being valued when you’re visible or useful and the desperate need to hold onto that. What someone loves about you one day might be cited as a reason they hate you now. It’s the desire for external validation and also the deep resentment of it.”

Where 2023’s Life Under The Gun was framed around lifelong cycles of hurt and addiction in Shelton’s family, the new album marks a stark shift — this time, Shelton places himself directly in the frame. Written as he confronted his own battles with drinking and self-sabotage, God Save The Gun captures an artist turning vulnerability into catharsis.

Shelton and his bandmates — William Acuña and Kevin Kiley (guitars), Waylon Trim (bass), and David Stalsworth (drums) — entered the studio with producer Riley MacIntyre (Arlo Parks, The Kills), aiming not only to make the songs sound huge, but also to strip them down to their raw emotional core. Longtime collaborators Phillip Odom and James Goodson (Dazy) contributed, alongside newer voices such as Nick Panella of MSPAINT, broadening the record’s sonic palette without sacrificing the immediacy that has defined Militarie Gun since their earliest singles. The result promises to be their boldest and most expansive work yet: dreamy, biting, ethereal and urgent, a continuation of the band’s refusal to sit still creatively.

It’s been a whirlwind few years for Militarie Gun. Their 2023 debut Life Under The Gun was hailed as one of the year’s most celebrated rock releases, praised for its mix of hardcore bite and melodic accessibility. That momentum carried through into last year’s Life Under The Sun EP — which reimagined songs from the debut with help from friends and collaborators including Manchester Orchestra, Bully, and Mannequin Pussy — and a mini-documentary shot at Manchester Orchestra’s Atlanta studio.

The band also found themselves unexpectedly in the pop-culture spotlight when their track Gun Under The Gun (MFG) was chosen as the walkout theme for Post Malone’s WWE 2K24 character. Post himself even curated the song Do It Faster into his official WWE playlist, further proof of the group’s crossover appeal. Now, with God Save The Gun, Militarie Gun stand on the brink of another breakthrough moment.

Alongside the album, Militarie Gun have confirmed their headline UK and European tour for early 2026, under the banner The Bad Idea Tour. Joined by support acts White Reaper and Spite House, the run will see the band step into their biggest venues yet, culminating in a Dublin show that promises to be a raucous finale.

The Long Road Festival 2025 – Day Three: Soul, Chaos & Catharsis

By Sunday, The Long Road Festival had found its rhythm. The fields of Stanford Hall carried the easy sway of a crowd sunburnt but unbowed, moving slower but still humming with anticipation. Chrome gleamed in the Lucky Dice Car Show, the smell of barbecue drifted lazily on the breeze, and six stages offered the final promise of fire, surprise, and catharsis.

Tonight was one of five UK album launch shows for The Hives’ seventh LP: The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, staged at one of London’s newest venues, Here at Outernet. Built deep below Charing Cross Road, the room feels more like a bunker than a gig space — all the hospitality of a bomb shelter without the grit or charm of the old Astoria that once stood across the street. Comparable in size but lacking in atmosphere, it was nevertheless packed wall-to-wall with 2,000 eager Hives fans.
