Ocean Alley Announce New Album ‘Love Balloon’ & Massive London Show At Alexandra Palace

by | Jun 5, 2025

Australian rock trailblazers Ocean Alley have announced their much-anticipated fifth studio album, Love Balloon, dropping on 19th September via Community Music. The announcement arrives alongside the record’s infectious title track, a joyful, disco-infused groove that signals a bold, carefree new era for the six-piece.

Playful, vibrant and full of charm, Love Balloon (the single) sees Ocean Alley confidently explore fresh sonic terrain. Threaded with a Nile Rodgers-inspired guitar riff, pulsing basslines and breezy funk energy, the track is as spontaneous as it is addictive. It follows in the shimmering footsteps of previous singles Tangerine and Left Of The Dealer, channeling the same laid-back energy with an added dose of glitterball swagger.

Speaking about the track, the band said: “Love Balloon stands out as the song that best encapsulates the direction we were heading with the whole record. Even though it was recorded toward the end of the process, by that point we were really finding our groove – dialling into the sounds we wanted to use and feeling fully comfortable with Nick [DiDia], our producer.”

They continued: “We sat in a room together for two days getting so frustrated because we knew there was something good in there – we just couldn’t make it click… Then I had this moment where I said, ‘What if we make the chorus the verse?’ We played it through like that and straight away, it just worked. That was the lightbulb moment.”

The album sees Ocean Alley team up with legendary producer Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine) for the first time. Across 10 tracks, Love Balloon navigates the highs and lows of life and love with warmth, introspection, and emotional resonance. Whether through uplifting grooves or more vulnerable lyrical moments, the band strike a balance between escapism and depth, inviting listeners into their most expansive sonic world yet.

The release will be supported by an extensive international tour throughout 2025, with festival stops including Lollapalooza, Sziget and Austin City Limits, as well as major headline dates across the US and Europe. Notably, Ocean Alley will perform their biggest UK headline show to date at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace on 27th September.

With over 1 billion catalogue streams, nine Gold or higher-accredited singles in Australia and New Zealand, and a reputation for electrifying live shows, Ocean Alley continue to cement their status as one of Australia’s most vital musical exports. As they prepare to enter this bold new chapter, Love Balloon marks both a creative and career high – and a reminder of just how much fun great music can be.
