Portrayal Of Guilt Unleash Double Single ‘Object Of Pain’ / ‘Death From Above’ Ahead Of New Album ‘Death From Above’

by | Mar 24, 2026

Austin, Texas experimental heavyweights Portrayal Of Guilt have shared two blistering new singles, Object Of Pain and Death From Above, offering a further glimpse into their upcoming album …Beginning Of The End, set for release on 24th April.

The new tracks arrive alongside striking visuals directed by Craig Murray, completing a trilogy that began with earlier singles Ecstasy and Human Terror. Together, they paint a vivid picture of a band continuing to push the boundaries of heavy music into darker, more experimental territory.

Across …Beginning Of The End, Portrayal Of Guilt channel the full spectrum of their sonic evolution, fusing their signature intensity with elements of nu-metal, industrial textures, trip hop and dark ambient. The result is a record that feels both punishingly raw and sonically expansive, capturing the band at a creative peak after nearly a decade of relentless reinvention.

Since emerging with their debut Let Pain Be Your Guide, the trio have carved out a distinct space in the underground, blending hardcore, black metal and screamo with an uncompromising experimental edge. Subsequent releases, including We Are Always Alone and CHRISTFCKER*, saw them further dismantle genre boundaries, incorporating influences from post-metal, sludge and electronic music, while side projects and EPs explored everything from classical arrangements to goth and EBM.

Recorded between March and June 2025 with producer Phillip Odom and mastered by Will Yip, the new album stands as their fourth full-length release in eight years and a distilled statement of their ever-evolving sound.

The band are set to take their latest material to the stage with a performance at Roadburn Festival this April, followed by an extensive North American headline tour beginning in May.

Tonight at the O2 Institute Birmingham feels like it’s sitting right on the edge of something. As the penultimate night of the tour for Thrice, there’s a quiet anticipation in the room before a note is even played — the kind that suggests this isn’t just another date, but a band tightening everything before the final stretch. With Lysistrata opening, that tension is pulled in two very different directions.
