Skerryvore Unveil Uplifting New Single ‘The Sea That Sings’ Ahead of Biggest Show Yet At Floors Castle

by | May 24, 2025

Scottish folk-rock trailblazers Skerryvore are celebrating 20 years of music, memories, and massive live moments with the release of their new single The Sea That Sings—an energising anthem tailor-made for festival fields and coastal escapes. As the band gears up for their largest-ever headline show at Floors Castle on 31st May, this next chapter in their journey is shaping up to be their most exciting yet. Out now via all streaming platforms, The Sea That Sings captures everything fans have come to love about Skerryvore. Propelled by bold rhythms, traditional instrumentation, and a modern, high-energy production, the song’s vibrant blend of fiddles, whistles, accordions, and uplifting vocals creates an atmosphere of emotional release and Celtic euphoria.

“The intention behind The Sea That Sings was to evoke images of the west coast of Scotland in the height of summer,” shares frontman Alec Dalglish. “The beauty of the scenery and the feeling of freedom that you’d feel walking along the shore with someone you love.”

Filmed at Glasgow’s Assumption Studios, the track’s performance video radiates the unfiltered joy and passion that has come to define Skerryvore’s live sets. With direction by Gary Denholm and lighting by Rob Alexander, the visual strikes a balance between stylised staging and natural energy.

The release of The Sea That Sings is timed to perfection. On 31st May, the band will headline the iconic Floors Castle in Kelso with Skerryvore XX, a 20th anniversary celebration concert. Originally slated for 5,000 fans, overwhelming demand led organisers to increase the capacity to 7,000, with concertgoers flying in from the USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Australia, and beyond.

In true celebratory style, the band will reunite with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Pipes and Drums—their collaborators from the show-stopping Take My Hand performance at last year’s Hoolie in the Hydro. Expect a stage packed with old friends, surprises, and guest performances from artists who’ve helped shape Skerryvore’s two-decade legacy, including Trail West, The Valtos, The Eves, Nathan Carter, The Laurettes, and Western End.

“We’ve crossed paths with so many incredible musicians during our travels,” says co-founder Daniel Gillespie. “This show is about celebrating not just our story, but the community we’ve built over the years. From tiny bars to massive festivals, these are the artists who’ve been part of our world.” Limited tickets remain available for the event, with commemorative merchandise also on sale via Skerryvore’s official store.

The release of The Sea That Sings follows the success of 2023’s Tempus, the group’s most successful record to date. The album broke into the UK Official Top 40, hit #1 on the Official Scottish Albums Chart, and topped the Official Folk Albums Chart, reinforcing their position as leaders of the modern folk revival. Skerryvore’s global reach continues to expand, with recent North American and Australian tours, and an upcoming Glastonbury Festival debut that further cements their place among the UK’s top-tier live acts.

In addition to their landmark Floors Castle show, Skerryvore will play extensive dates across the UK, bringing their genre-bending, feel-good live energy to fans from the Hebrides to London. Here’s where you can catch them:
