Beach Bunny Deliver Ms. California Ahead Of Valentine’s Day Honeymoon Release

by | Dec 6, 2019

The Chicago-based indie-pop quartet Beach Bunny have today released Ms. California, the second single from their forthcoming debut LP, Honeymoon – dropping on Valentine’s day 2020 via Mom+Pop. The song from the four-piece fronted by Lili Trifilio hears them contrasting an upbeat, rapturous melody with lyrics filled with complicated envy. The song is paired with a video directed by Everybody’s Baby’s Matt Gehl that follows the Windy City-based band on a bad day. The new single follows their 2018 breakout Prom Queen, which garnered over 70 million streams and recent swooning and anthemic track Dream Boy, the lead single from Honeymoon.

Trifilio says of the new single: Ms. California tells the story of someone who is secretly in love with a person who is in a relationship and wishes that they could be their significant other. I wanted to write a song that captured the frustrating and feelings of jealousy and bitterness – something many of us have experienced.”

Check out the video for Ms. California below:

Honeymoon marks Beach Bunny’s first project to be released with Mom+Pop following four self-released EPs that culminated with 2018’s Prom Queen. The album is for anyone who has felt uncertain and doubtful about their future and had the courage to dive in and choose optimism and love. On it, Trifilio pinpoints emotions more clearly and honestly than most artists can with songwriting that is resonant and intimate within a muscular musical palate that perfectly encapsulates the energy of their raucous, life-affirming live shows. The album is the stunning culmination of Trifilio’s evolution as a songwriter and artist.
