Hardcore heavyweights Converge have shared their latest single Doom In Bloom, offering another intense glimpse into their forthcoming album Hum Of Hurt, set for release on 5th June.
The track arrives as the band’s second full-length release of 2026, following Love Is Not Enough, and continues a deeply introspective and uncompromising exploration of the human condition. Drawing inspiration from the real-world phenomenon known as “The Hum”—a low-frequency sound reported across the globe—frontman Jacob Bannon reimagines it as a metaphysical force born from collective human suffering.
Doom In Bloom captures that concept in visceral form. Musically, it’s as ferocious as anything in the band’s catalogue, driven by Kurt Ballou’s jagged guitar work, the crushing rhythm section of Nate Newton and Ben Koller, and Bannon’s unmistakable, throat-shredding delivery. The result is a track that feels both chaotic and precise—an unrelenting assault that mirrors its themes of inner conflict and existential weight.
Lyrically, the song turns inward, with Bannon confronting the realities of middle age and the persistence of darker thoughts. Rather than offering resolution, it leans into discomfort, reflecting a broader narrative that runs throughout Hum Of Hurt—an album that strips things back to something more raw and exposed than its predecessor.
Recorded and mixed by Ballou at God City Studio in Massachusetts, the album also features artwork developed in collaboration with UK artist Thomas Hooper. The visual concept mirrors the record’s themes, combining imagery of EKG signals and seismic activity to represent both human fragility and environmental instability, suggesting a world in a constant state of tension and collapse.
Hum Of Hurt continues a prolific period for Converge, who found themselves with a wealth of material during the writing process—enough to shape two distinct albums released within the same year. While Love Is Not Enough laid the groundwork, this new record pushes further into emotional and sonic extremes.
The band will take that intensity on the road this summer, with a run of European and UK dates scheduled across June and July, including a key UK festival appearance at Outbreak Festival in Manchester on 27th June.
