Released on 30th April in alignment with the ancient spring festival of Walpurgis Night, Higher Ground signals a powerful new chapter for the Swedish artist. Blending ethereal synth textures with grounding, tribal rhythms, the track builds into a sweeping, vocal-led call for renewal and forward movement. It reflects both a personal and collective desire for change, rooted in themes of transformation, release and rebirth.

The accompanying video, filmed at Mount Teide in Tenerife, mirrors these ideas through striking natural imagery. Set against the raw volcanic landscape, Gaeya uses the environment as a symbol of elemental power—representing the act of confronting and channelling emotion rather than suppressing it.

Higher Ground arrives as the first glimpse into Growth, a project that continues the narrative established on her 2021 debut Awakening. While that earlier release explored a moment of introspection and questioning during a period of global uncertainty, the new EP moves into what Gaeya describes as the next phase: realignment and active transformation.

Across its four tracks—Higher Ground, Different In My Time, Emptiness and The Lucky OnesGrowth draws on a fusion of modern electronic production and traditional Nordic influences. Collaborating with producer Anders Rane, Gaeya incorporates elements such as Sámi-inspired joik and kulning vocal techniques, weaving them into expansive, forward-looking soundscapes.

The EP explores the idea that personal evolution often emerges from challenge, positioning growth not as a passive process but as a conscious choice. Sonically, it reflects that journey—moving between intimate, stripped-back moments and cinematic, layered arrangements that emphasise both vulnerability and strength.

Beyond her recorded work, Gaeya continues to build a multidisciplinary creative world around her Earth Music concept, combining music, ritual and visual storytelling. Her work has taken her across Europe, the United States and South Africa, while also extending into wider projects including festival curation and environmental initiatives.

With Growth, Gaeya deepens that vision—offering a body of work that not only expands her sound but reinforces her focus on connection, both to self and to the natural world.
