Pistol Daisys Return With Shimmering New Single ‘Calling Your Name’ — A Heartbreak Anthem For The Bold And Open-Minded

by | Apr 30, 2025

Scotland’s genre-blurring alt-pop outfit Pistol Daisys are back, and they’re diving deep into unexpected truths, emotional whiplash, and neon-lit heartbreak with their latest single, Calling Your Name, out 30th April via OneRPM Records. Following the slow-burn breakout success of St Glasgow and the soul-baring Crying In Marseille, the band’s new track captures another shade of the human experience — one that blends glittering production, groove-driven defiance, and personal storytelling that cuts deeper than expected.

Inspired by a moment of misconnection on a night out in Kuala Lumpur, co-frontwoman Belly explains how Calling Your Name emerged from a chance encounter that left her questioning not just the boy who vanished into the crowd — but her own assumptions. “It was my first time at Zouk,” she recalls. “My heart wasn’t broken — that was Lorna in ‘Crying in Marseille’ — but I was surprised by a young six-foot-tall man. I thought we hit it off… next thing I know, I see him kissing a guy on the way out. I called his name, but he couldn’t — or wouldn’t — hear me.”

The moment lingers, and now it’s immortalised in song — a blend of vintage disco gloss and jagged pop realism. Imagine Blondie dancing with The Gossip, dressed in Lady Gaga’s emotional theatre and ABBA’s melodic shimmer, all stitched together with the Daisys’ signature flair. “It just goes to show — the world’s ever-changing,” Belly adds. “This song is for anyone who’s ever felt blindsided, and maybe still curious.”

To bring fans even closer into their heartbreak-laced universe, the band has launched the Pistol Daisys LoveLine — a hotline where listeners can hear real-life breakup confessions, band stories, and exclusive audio clips. It’s quirky, clever, and entirely on-brand. Call +44 7897 028675 to plug into the heartache (and a few laughs).

And that’s not all: Calling Your Name will also make its national TV debut in May, with appearances confirmed for Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and STV’s Entertainment Live, giving the band their most visible UK exposure to date.

The single arrives in the midst of a UK spring tour, with a headline release show at St Luke’s in Glasgow on April 30. The band will also be joining Big Country and When Rivers Meet across a slew of regional dates in May, followed by a busy summer festival run including Belladrum, Mighty Dub Festival, and Doune The Rabbit Hole. Come autumn, the Daisys head to mainland Europe for a string of headline shows across Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

With their confident blend of emotional openness, dancefloor swagger, and post-punk bite, Pistol Daisys continue to prove they’re more than a buzz band — they’re one of the UK’s most vital new voices in alternative pop. Calling Your Name is available to pre-save now, with a full campaign of visuals, live sessions, and surprises still to come. For those who like their pop with pain, power, and a pulse — this one’s for you.
