Scouting For Girls Share New Single ‘Don’t You Go Solo’ Ahead Of Album ‘These Are The Good Days’

by | Jan 30, 2026

Scouting For Girls have launched 2026 with the release of their brand new single Don’t You Go Solo, offering another taste of their forthcoming album These Are The Good Days, due out on 27th March. The single arrives as the chart-topping trio continue to enjoy huge demand for their upcoming UK and Ireland headline tour, with the majority of dates already sold out.

Best known for era-defining hits including She’s So Lovely, This Ain’t A Love Song and Elvis Ain’t Dead, Scouting For Girls remain a formidable live draw nearly two decades into their career. Their new material finds the band leaning fully into warmth, optimism and escapism, a theme that runs throughout These Are The Good Days, the follow-up to 2023’s The Place We Used To Meet — their highest-charting album in eight years.

New single Don’t You Go Solo stands out as a sun-soaked slice of retro-leaning pop, complete with sweeping strings and a distinctly cinematic feel. Written during frontman Roy Stride’s time in Los Angeles, the track draws inspiration from his work in film music, channelling a playful, almost musical-theatre energy while retaining the band’s unmistakable melodic touch.

Speaking about the song, Stride explains: “It’s a bit of an outlier on the record. I was working on an animated film at the time and wanted to write something that felt like a fun musical number, but with big cinematic strings and a ‘60s sound.”

That sense of joyful escapism sits at the heart of These Are The Good Days, an album shaped by a desire to counterbalance an often gloomy world with something uplifting. From the title track’s life-affirming message to moments of classic balladry on Stars Never Fade, the record leans into Scouting For Girls’ talent for heartfelt songwriting wrapped in feel-good melodies. Elsewhere, tracks like Get What You Give and the exuberant closer Alright In The End reinforce the album’s bright, celebratory tone.

The album was written and produced entirely by Roy Stride, recorded across California, Dublin and the UK alongside bandmates Greg Churchouse and Pete Ellard. Touring guitarist Connor McDonald also features, bringing additional texture to the band’s sound, while mixing duties were handled by Stride himself alongside Matt Bishop.

Reflecting on the album, Stride says: “The album’s full of the sunny optimism and joy that’s always been such a big part of Scouting For Girls. Nearly twenty years on, we’re selling more tickets than ever, and I hope this record adds to that soundtrack of positivity and connection.”

With a new album on the horizon and an almost sold-out tour ahead, These Are The Good Days sees Scouting For Girls reaffirm their place as one of the UK’s most enduring and feel-good pop bands.
