Somebody’s Child Share ‘Irish Goodbye’ Ahead Of Sophomore LP

by | Feb 13, 2025

Irish rockers Somebody’s Child have dropped their third single Irish Goodbye from their forthcoming second record When Youth Fades Away, set for release on March 28th via Frenchkiss Records. The new tune follows the singles Time Of My Life and Last Night I Held Your Hand. There’s a palpably growing excitement for March 28th’s When Youth Fades Away!

Aptly named after the concept of leaving a social event without notice, Irish Goodbye presents this concept from the perspective of an adult talking to their younger self, regretting taking their youth for granted, never taking the chance to say goodbye to their childhood, and moving into adulthood without a second look. If When Youth Fades Away is grounded in the coming-of-age narrative, Irish Goodbye is the album’s mission statement.

Speaking on the single, vocalist and songwriter Cian Godfrey said: “Irish Goodbye is a breath of fresh air within the album itself, and exemplifies the tone and theme of the album best, in my opinion, from a lyrical standpoint. It highlights the transient nature of time, and on some level, it perhaps describes the parting of youth, without notice, at some point, unbeknownst to us.”

As anticipation continues to grow for Somebody’s Child’s second album, the band are also looking forward to a run of UK in-store performances, followed by an extensive German tour. Details are below. Tickets available from www.somebodyschildmusic.com.
