YUNGBLUD Announces Bold Fourth Studio Album ‘Idols’

by | May 6, 2025

British rock trailblazer Dominic Harrison – AKA YUNGBLUD – has officially announced his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Idols, set for release on 20th June 2025 via Locomotion/Island Records. The announcement was made directly to fans via social media earlier today, igniting a wave of excitement across his global fanbase. The new 12-track album marks a major creative leap for the 27-year-old artist, who has fast become one of the most vital voices of his generation. With two UK number-one albums already under his belt and over 6 billion global streams, YUNGBLUD is poised to deliver his most ambitious work yet.

Recorded in Leeds, just a few miles from his Yorkshire hometown, Idols is described by YUNGBLUD as a deeply personal and conceptual record — the first in a two-part project. “I wanted to make a project that didn’t focus on singles or anything else except feeling and world-building,” he said. “A project with no limitations.”

Produced by longtime collaborator Matt Schwartz, with additional production from Bob Bradley and guitar work by Adam Warrington, Idols is set to explore the complex psychology of hero-worship and self-identity. “We turn to others for an identity before turning to ourselves. Self-belief, self-reclamation, self-evolution and change. As we grow up, we lose our belief in magic and mystery… we begin to rationalise everything. Our cage walls build up,” Harrison explains. “We compare ourselves to 15 different people before we’ve even had our breakfast.”

The album is described by YUNGBLUD as “a love letter to self-reclamation… to rock music… [and] to life; in all its f*cking madness.” Four special edition vinyl formats will be available alongside digital and standard editions.

Idols arrives off the back of two striking singles: Hello Heaven, Hello, a sprawling nine-minute opus that premiered as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, and Lovesick Lullaby, which dropped on 25th April alongside a dreamy, stylish video directed by Charlie Sarsfield. YUNGBLUD celebrated the release in true DIY fashion — serving pints at London’s legendary Hawley Arms pub in Camden, surrounded by fans.

The latter single has already drawn praise for its sonic risk-taking. BBC’s Mark Savage described it as, “Combining Liam Gallagher’s sneer with Beach Boys’ harmonies, it’s uniquely Yungblud,” while The Telegraph hailed the artist as “the pop star bringing real rock music back from the dead.”

At a surprise gig at Scala, London, YUNGBLUD previewed unreleased album material, including the haunting Zombie, written about his grandmother’s struggle with trauma. The song deals with themes of alienation and vulnerability: “It’s about the feeling of deterioration and ugliness—shutting the world and the people we love out, out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment.”

2025 is already shaping up to be a defining year for YUNGBLUD. In March, he appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show to discuss the album and the return of his self-curated festival Bludfest, set to return with a renewed commitment to affordability and inclusion. “It needed to represent a new idea and a new generation,” he said. “Gigs at the minute are extortionately expensive.”

Alongside his music, YUNGBLUD also published his first book this year, You Need to Exist: A Book to Love and Destroy, which became an instant Sunday Times No.1 bestseller. The book furthers his mission to empower young people and spark conversations around mental health, identity, and artistic freedom.

Known for fusing the intensity of punk with the grand ambition of pop and alt-rock, YUNGBLUD has carved out a unique space in modern music. His live shows—equal parts chaotic and cathartic—have made him a standout on festival stages and in arenas worldwide. With previous wins at the MTV EMAs and the O2 Silver Clef Awards, he’s established himself not just as a performer, but as a cultural lightning rod. As the countdown to Idols begins, YUNGBLUD is once again poised to disrupt expectations, redefine genres, and reconnect fans with the raw spirit of rock’n’roll.

Amy Macdonald Warms A Frozen Hammersmith Apollo With Heart, Humour & Huge Hits

“Are we having a nice time so far? Are we getting a bit warmer?” Amy Macdonald grins, peering out at a Hammersmith Apollo audience bundled into coats and scarves. It’s a question that becomes a running joke throughout the night — because despite the November chill and the decidedly frugal heating, Macdonald sets about warming the 5,000-capacity venue the only way she knows how: with humour, heart, and a powerhouse performance that leaves no seat unshaken.

Bad Nerves rolled into theBad Nerves tonight armed with a setlist built for chaos, and although the room was a little quieter than expected, the people who were there lit the place up. A smaller Tuesday night crowd didn’t dull the spark – instead it made the gig feel like a secret show shared only between the band and the diehards. And the band fed off it.
