Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, filmmaker and queer pop trailblazer Zoë Hoetzel – AKA Zolita – has announced her forthcoming new album HELL’S BELLES, set for release on 28th August, alongside the arrival of explosive new single HARDCORE.
Known for building immersive musical worlds that blur the lines between pop music, cinema and storytelling, Zolita’s latest project promises to be her most ambitious yet. Conceived as a two-sided concept album, HELL’S BELLES explores opposing aspects of identity through two contrasting sonic landscapes. One side, BELLES, embraces romance, vulnerability and introspection, while the darker HELL counterpart dives headfirst into temptation, desire and unapologetic self-expression.
The announcement follows the release of the album’s title track, Hell’s Belles, which introduced listeners to the central theme of the record. Fusing country and rock influences with Zolita’s signature pop sensibilities, the song established the push-and-pull between softness and strength that runs throughout the album. Now, with HARDCORE, Zolita shifts gears entirely.
Driven by pulsating electronic production, bold hooks and a fierce sense of liberation, the new single marks the point where the album’s narrative takes a dramatic turn. Described by Zolita as the moment where “Belle transforms into her more hedonistic alter ego,” the track embraces instinct over restraint, stepping away from romantic idealism and into a world fuelled by temptation, confidence and self-reinvention.
The result is an electrifying statement piece that showcases another side of Zolita’s artistry while reinforcing the thematic heart of HELL’S BELLES. Rather than choosing between contrasting identities, the record celebrates them all, embracing the contradictions that make us who we are.
It’s a fitting evolution for an artist who has spent the past decade carving out a unique space within modern pop. From her early independent releases through to acclaimed projects including Immaculate Conception, Sappho, Evil Angel and 2024’s Queen Of Hearts, Zolita has consistently combined deeply personal songwriting with striking visual storytelling, all while maintaining complete creative control over her work.
Her ability to centre queer narratives without compromise has earned her a devoted global fanbase and helped establish her as one of independent pop’s most distinctive voices. Whether exploring mythology, romance, heartbreak or empowerment, Zolita’s music has always been rooted in authenticity and cinematic ambition.
That vision has translated to the live stage too. Having sold out iconic venues including New York’s Bowery Ballroom and Los Angeles’ Troubadour, while making appearances at major festivals across North America, Zolita continues to build momentum heading into what looks set to be a defining chapter of her career.
With HELL’S BELLES promising to unite guitar-driven pop, alternative influences and club-ready electronic production under one ambitious concept, Zolita appears poised to deliver her most fully realised artistic statement to date.
