Nerina Pallot has announced a major milestone release with the arrival of her forthcoming compilation Fire Escape Symphonies: The Best Of, set for release on 29th May.
The collection marks a reflective and celebratory moment in Pallot’s career, bringing together key tracks from across more than two decades of songwriting—from early breakthrough moments to more recent fan favourites. It arrives just days before she takes to the stage for her biggest headline show to date at Royal Albert Hall on 31st May.
Spanning her journey from 2001 debut Dear Frustrated Superstar through to her later releases, Fire Escape Symphonies captures the evolution of an artist who has quietly built one of the UK’s most enduring and emotionally resonant catalogues. Tracks such as Everybody’s Gone To War and Sophia helped define her early success, with the latter earning an Ivor Novello Awards nomination and cementing her reputation for sharp, introspective songwriting.
Elsewhere, the collection revisits fan favourites including Idaho, Regrets and This Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, while also showcasing her continued creative growth through more recent material like Madison and Only The Old Songs. Pallot’s interpretation of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart also features, a track that found renewed life with a new generation of listeners following its placement in TV drama Normal People.
Looking forward as much as back, the album closes with the new track Come Bring The Sun, a sweeping and uplifting piece written during the pandemic. Built around orchestral textures and gospel-tinged harmonies, the song reflects Pallot’s enduring optimism and her belief in music as a vehicle for hope during uncertain times.
Since breaking through with 2005’s Fires—a Gold-certified album that established her as a distinctive voice in British pop—Pallot has continued to evolve, releasing a string of critically acclaimed records while also writing for artists including Kylie Minogue and Diana Vickers. More recently, she has embraced a direct-to-fan approach, launching her own platform to foster closer connections with her audience and maintain creative independence.
With Fire Escape Symphonies, Pallot not only revisits her past achievements but also underscores her continued relevance and artistic momentum. The upcoming Royal Albert Hall performance promises to be a fitting celebration of that journey, bringing her songs to one of the UK’s most iconic stages.
