Foo Fighters are set to join AC/DC as special guests for one night only, stepping in for The Pretty Reckless at the legendary rock band’s upcoming show in St Louis, Missouri.

The surprise announcement brings together two generations of heavyweight rock acts for a particularly formidable pairing, with Foo Fighters making a one-off detour from their current Take Cover stadium tour to open for AC/DC on Tuesday 8th September 2026.

AC/DC announced the change with a message confirming that Foo Fighters would join the bill as special guests for the St Louis date. The Taylor Momsen-led The Pretty Reckless had originally been scheduled to support the show as they have done now for over two years, but Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters will now take their place for the one-off appearance.

For Foo Fighters, the opportunity carries an extra personal significance. Frontman Dave Grohl has described the chance to share a bill with AC/DC as “a dream come true”, making the St Louis performance an especially notable addition to the band’s current live schedule.

The pairing is also a meeting of two bands whose histories are deeply intertwined with the evolution of modern rock. AC/DC have spent more than five decades establishing themselves as one of the defining hard rock bands, while Foo Fighters have become one of the world’s biggest contemporary rock acts since forming in the mid-1990s.

AC/DC’s Power Up Tour is supporting their 2020 album Power Up and has seen the band return to stadiums across the globe, including a stop at the London Stadium which Rockshot Magazine went along to check out. The 2026 run has already included major European dates, including a huge show at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on 21st August.

Foo Fighters, meanwhile, are undertaking their own stadium-scale touring cycle, making the St Louis appearance something of a rock-world crossover event rather than the beginning of a wider run together.

The one-night collaboration will take place at The Dome at America’s Center in St Louis, with Foo Fighters now joining AC/DC for what promises to be a particularly explosive evening of live rock.

And while Foo Fighters’ appearance is strictly a one-off, the significance of the booking is hard to miss: AC/DC and Foo Fighters sharing a stage offers fans the rare opportunity to see two generations of stadium rock powerhouses on the same bill.

The Pretty Reckless will not perform at the St Louis date following the change to the support line-up.
