US pop-rock favourites The All-American Rejects have shared their brand new single King Kong, the latest preview of their long-awaited fifth studio album Sandbox, set for release on 15th May.
Marking their first full-length record in over a decade, Sandbox signals a bold new chapter for the band, blending the infectious hooks that defined their early success with a renewed sense of perspective and creative freedom. King Kong captures that evolution perfectly — a track that begins with a laid-back acoustic groove before building into a punchy, emotionally charged chorus.
Frontman Tyson Ritter describes the song as a reflection on leaving Los Angeles and returning to his roots in Oklahoma, stepping away from the intensity of industry life in search of something more grounded and real. That tension between chaos and clarity runs through the track, as shimmering guitars and a hypnotic rhythm give way to a soaring, cathartic payoff.
King Kong follows previously released singles Easy Come, Easy Go and Get This, both of which have helped fuel the band’s resurgence across streaming platforms and live audiences alike. With Sandbox also marking their first independent release, the album finds the band embracing a DIY spirit while reconnecting with fans across generations.
The announcement comes alongside continued momentum on the live front. Following the success of their recent headline runs and viral house party-style performances, The All-American Rejects are set to bring their high-energy shows back to the UK this summer.
With Sandbox on the horizon and King Kong offering a powerful taste of what’s to come, The All-American Rejects look set to reassert themselves as one of pop-rock’s most enduring and electrifying acts.
